Liam Payne drank alcohol with prostitutes before death

Oct 19, 2024

Liam Payne reportedly partied with prostitutes hours before he tragically fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday.

“We drank alcohol,” two 25-year-old women, whose identities were not disclosed, admitted to prosecutor Marcelo Roma, who is in charge of Payne’s death investigation, sources told local outlet La Nación Friday.

However, during a testimony under oath with Roma, the sex workers reportedly denied using drugs with the pop star and claimed he seemed “normal” when they were with him.

The ladies also confirmed to authorities that their profession is prostitution, per the publication.

Prostitution is not illegal under federal laws, but certain local laws prohibit it, according to Argentine experts. In Buenos Aires, it is reportedly a crime to buy sex in “unauthorized” public places.

The women reportedly told investigators they were called to CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, where Payne had been staying as a guest, after being contacted via a platform that offers “escort” services.

They arrived at the luxe hotel at around 11:30 a.m. but did not leave the premises until 4 p.m.

An insider told La Nación that the prostitutes left Payne’s room before 4 o’clock, but there had been a delay in their departure from the hotel due to a dispute with the “What Makes You Beautiful” singer.

“They left prior to 4 from Payne’s room but left the actual hotel around that time because there was a problem, as Payne did not want to pay them,” sources said.

A hotel guest named Michael Fleischmann seemingly corroborated the claim, as he told the Buenos Aires Herald that he witnessed Payne arguing with an unnamed woman in the lobby over money.

“I’ll give you $20,000 just because I can. I have $55 million, and I like to help people,” the American native reportedly overheard the “Night Changes” singer say.

Fleischmann claimed the “tense” interaction took place around three hours before Payne died at age 31, and the star appeared “very upset, agitated, a little wild, walking around and pacing” at the time.

The “You & I” singer had been in a relationship with Kate Cassidy for two years, but she left Argentina two days earlier because she had grown frustrated with their extended stay in the South American country.

The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in a report obtained by Page Six Thursday that they had spoken to two women who were in Payne’s room before his death.

However, officials noted in the report that the women “had already left the hotel” when the “Teardrops” singer died.

The prosecutor’s office added that they were looking into what happened as a “suspicious death” but noted that they had no reason to suspect foul play, as they believe he was alone when he fell.

They also noted, though, that Payne was likely in a “state of semi or total unconsciousness” when he died due to the “position in which the body was left and the injuries” he sustained.

It’s unclear whether prosecutors are considering filing charges against the two prostitutes. Page Six has reached out to their office for comment but did not immediately hear back.

La Nación added in its report, though, that sources noted the two women were cooperative during the probe “not only with their declarations” but also by granting “access to their cellphones.”

They were reportedly interviewed by authorities on Wednesday just after Payne’s body was found in the CasaSur courtyard.

The “Story of My Life” singer’s cause of death was determined to be from multiple traumas that led to internal and external bleeding, per the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office autopsy.

His former One Direction bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, have all expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their longtime friend on social media.

Payne’s family also said in a statement this week that they are “heartbroken” over his death.
